St.
Augustine College is engaged in the restoration and reuse of the original
production facility of Essanay Film Manufacturing Co. at 1333 W. Argyle St. This will serve as the
home for an Essanay Center for Cultural Performance and Essanay Center for
Early Film as well as a multiuse space for the cultural events as well as
private events.
St.
Augustine retained Gary Keller of Xomix Ltd. to lead this project and contracted Johnson and Lasky Architects to prepare a Historic Structures
Report-Preservation and Reuse Plan that will be released at St. Augustine’s
Inaugural Essanay Gala on October 6th, 2012.
